Craig Patrick Allen

“Glimmers of brilliance... Tenor Craig Allen displayed clear diction and a nimble voice on the faster sections of his solos.”

KC Metropolis Review of Musica Vocale’s performance of King David By Arthur Honegger

Craig has been described as an exemplary soloist (Kansas City Star) with a brilliant nimble voice (KC Metropolis)  He just finished his Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from UMKC and has a BM in voice and a BA in theatre with a minor in dance from Texas Tech University. Craig has been seen in numerous productions recently, including:  The Wedding Singer as George, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure as Sherlock Holmes at The Little Theatre, Annie at Wagon Wheel Theatre, and Anything Goes at the Starlight Theatre.

Craig is also an accomplished dancer and has participated in numerous dance shows. Craig has attended the American Dance Festival in Durham North Carolina for a few summers and also participated in ADF’s Winter Intensive in New York. In addition to singing, he finds his voice through movement when choreographing. A highlight in this area for him was creating movement for a 9/11 Peace Service in Walla Walla, WA where he was a guest choreographer/dancer collaborating with the Whitman Chamber Singers.

As a soloist, Craig has sung with various choral groups, including Musica Vocale and the newly-founded group Simon Carrington Chamber Singers.  Carrington was one of the founding members of the Grammy® award winning King Singers. Craig has sung at numerous conventions of ACDA  and TMEA with the Texas Tech University Choir, and recently performed with University of Missouri - Kansas City’s Conservatory Singers at their 2010 MMEA performance.

Finally, Craig enjoys his time that he spends behind the scenes. For example, when he was dancing at the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina, he also worked backstage, filling various roles, including but not limited to: lighting designer, stage manager, light board operator, and sound board operator.

“Standouts include Allen's portrayal of George, who transported me back to the days of Culture Club frontman Boy George in a flamboyant and delightful way. Allen's comedic timing and musical talent were impeccable.”
